Biostimulant trials
A plant biostimulant is a product stimulating plant nutrition processes independently of the product’s nutrient content with the sole aim of improving one or more of the following characteristics of the plant or the plant rhizosphere:
(a) nutrient use efficiency
(b) tolerance to abiotic stress
(c) quality traits
(d) availability of confined nutrients in soil or rhizosphere
Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 on the market of EU fertilising products was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 25 June 2019 (Link). This text is fully effective from 16 July 2022.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) developed and set European standards (ENs) that are applied across the whole of the European single market. The Technical Specifications are identified between CEN/TS17700 and CEN/TS17725.
The Biostimulant trials are carried out on of crops of all crop groupings, i.e., i)broadacre crops, ii)woody perennials and iii)vegetables, ornamental and aromatic and medicinal plant crops. The studies are performed according to the GEP Standard Operating Procedures of AgriScienceGEO and the Technical Specifications of CEN/TS 17700 series.
AgriScienceGEO can offer the following biostimulant trials:
- Evaluation of Nutrient Use Efficiency
- Evaluation of Tolerance to abiotic stress
- Determination of quality traits
- Availability of confined nutrients in the soil or rhizosphere
